From Wonderful Sydney 魅力的な街 シドニーから見えたもの

皆さん、こんにちは！

東京出張も含めて、約1週間のシドニー出張から帰沢しました！今回のシドニー出張は、石川県のオセアニア観光プロモーションということで、訪問団の一員として同行しました。全行程としては、前半がニュージーランド、後半がシドニーだったのですが、スケジュールの都合で前半は営業担当者に参加してもらい、私はシドニーから合流しました。

オーストラリアには、かれこれ18年ほど前にパースに行ったことがありましたが、シドニーは都会ですね(^_^;) ～。都会でありながら自然にも囲まれているシドニー。

なんとも魅力的な街です。

初日は視察ということでブルーマウンテンにあるシーニック・ワールドへ。都心部からバスで2時間くらいでしょうか。渓谷に囲まれた雄大な自然。

ケーブルカーで移動し、散策することができます。太古からの自然が残り、その自然が織りなす景観は圧巻です！

と言いたいところですが、全面霧で真っ白！

名物のスリーシスターズ（岩の凹凸が3つ並んでいる）も、何とか見えるくらい。

その後、展望台での記念撮影をということでしたが、何も見えず。。。

この霧も、ブルーマウンテンの名物だとか(^_^;)

そうそうブルーマウンテンの名前の由来ですが、ユーカリの葉から蒸発される油分が太陽光に当たると青く見えることから、名付けられたそうですよ。

さて、市内ではランチ時からビールを片手にしているサラリーマンの多いこと、多いこと。平日ですよ？

そして、夕方5時くらいには、帰宅ラッシュ。仕事してんの？って思うくらい、”自由”です(笑)。今回の訪問で偶然に10年振りにお会いした日本の旅行代理店の現地支社長によると、これが、オーストラリアでは普通だそうで、早く帰宅し家族でBBQやアクティビティを楽しむのだとか。すごく羨ましいですね。でも、オーストラリアにおける外資企業（ここでは日本企業など）の雇用する側となれば、大変だそうです(^_^;)

さて、視察ばかりではありません。谷本石川県知事訪問団長をはじめとする我々一行は、石川県、金沢を販促するべく現地の大手旅行会社様や手配会社への商談訪問、領事や主要関係者を招き、

石川県が誇る加賀屋さんの料理長による石川食文化提案夕食懇親会など、

しっかりとプロモーションして参りました。同行された金沢芸妓の皆様のおもてなしも見事です。

日中は我々施設グループとは別に、知事は港湾を視察し、

金沢港へのクルーズ誘致にも積極的にアピールされておりました。

総括的には、来年のラグビーワールドカップも去ることながら、ニュージーランドも含めオーストラリアから石川・金沢への興味、ポテンシャルは大きいと感じました。

オーストラリアからのリゾート旅行といえば、日本でいえば北海道や白馬などのスキーリゾート、ビーチでいえばダントツでインドネシアのバリですが、

特に白馬などでのスキー滞在Before Afterの訪問地として金沢は、彼らにとっての新しいディスティネーションだと思います。

そういった意味でも、金沢は日本海側の玄関口、”ハブ金沢”だと思うのです。

本当はもっと、ディープなお話をお届けしようとも思ったのですが、

個人情報にも関わるかも知れませんので、ここらでシドニー出張のお話は一先ず以上とさせていただきますね(^_^;)。

次回は、いよいよ冬！冬といえば食！食といえばカニ！！！

金沢に着任して、この季節、何が楽しみでといえば、これしかないでしょう！

金沢市の取り組みなどの会合で伺った、この冬の食のお話をお届けできればと思います！

Hello!

I came back to Kanazawa from a business trip. On this business trip, I went to Sydney as a member of Ishikawa Delegation to promote Ishikawa in Oceania. Due to the schedule, I couldn’t have visited New Zealand.

I visited Australia for the first time in 18 years. Sydney is the city surrounded by nature. On the first day, we went to see Scenic World in Blue Mountains. It took 2 hours to get there by cableway. Nature from ancient and the view of magnificent natural landscape of canyons are just spectacular. But unfortunately, there was fog that I couldn’t see the scenery, including the famous Three Sisters! Too bad! This fog is also a typical weather of Blue Mountain. By the way, Blue Mountain derives its name because it seems blue when the oil that evaporated from eucalyptus leaves get sunlight. Interesting!

In the city, I saw some office workers drinking beer on weekdays. Then around 5 o’clock in the evening, they go back home. I wondered “when do they work?” Haha. I heard that they go back home early and enjoy having barbeque and doing activity with their families. I wish I could do that.

We enjoyed not only the trip but also the sales promotion of Ishikawa. We invited Australian travel partners, media, government and business partners to showcase the authentic of Ishikawa. In the evening, we held a gala night celebrating the Flavors of Ishikawa. In the day time, the Governor of Ishikawa Prefecture also visited a harbor in Sydney and introduced about Kanazawa Port as a cruise port as well.

I had an impression that they are very interested in Ishikawa and Kanazawa, and still have a lot of potentials. 

For Australians Hokkaido or Nagano are the popular places for Skiing. Before or after their ski trip, visiting Kanazawa will be a new destination for them to enrich their trip to Japan. 

I think Kanazawa can be “Hub Kanazawa” on the Sea of Japan side.
